New to Therapy

Talk therapy can be a profound experience and an opportunity to learn what makes us make decisions and behave in certain ways. We identify patterns and then values (how I would like to make decisions) and make commitments to ourselves to take responsibility and accountability for our own actions and thoughts. We learn how to deal with difficult emotions, what techniques we are using now and how effective those techniques are (is that really working for you?). Also, if you see a therapist for a few sessions, maybe that’s enough for you, short term and goal focused. I prefer to work weekly with clients (especially couples) at least at first. Consistency is important and therapy is work. I have worked with clients from first timers to therapy pros to psychiatrists and other therapists.
